What is an Organization?

At Surfer, your Organization is a shared workspace connected to your Surfer subscription — where your whole team can collaborate under one pricing plan while maintaining separate credentials. Organizations help you manage access, roles, and billing in one place so everyone works from the same Surfer environment.

The number of seats depends on the plan you're on. You can check your seat limit on the Members Page right above the list of your current members.

✉ How to Invite Members

Before proceeding, make sure the person you're inviting has a Surfer account — it doesn't need to be paid, just an active login.

1. Click on your Profile Icon in the top-right corner.

2. Click the Settings icon ⚙ .

3. Go to People.

4. Enter the email addresses of users that you’d like to invite to your Surfer organization.

5. Select the Workspaces they should be assigned to.

6. Select a role (Admin or Member) for new users.

7. Select the Send invite > button. This action will send invitation emails to your users with instructions on how to join your organization and start with Surfer.

🔗 Joining an Organization

Before accepting the invitation, make sure you have a Surfer account — it doesn't need to be paid, just an active login.

1. Open the invitation email from Surfer.

2. Click Accept invitation to join the organization.

3. If the button doesn't work, copy and paste the link from the email into your browser.

Note: the invitation link is valid for one week.

If the invitation doesn’t work, contact the organization’s Owner or Admin to request a new one.

Even if you’re part of an organization, you can still purchase your own Surfer subscription for personal use. Switch between them anytime — you don’t lose access to either.

🧩 Roles in an Organization

Owners and Admins can change roles on the Members Page using the dropdown next to each user.

💬 FAQ

Can I remove a member?

Yes, you can remove a member from the Members Page by clicking the three dots icon and selecting Remove. This will free up one of your seats if you'd like to invite someone else.

Who can use Organizations?
All Surfer users — both on older and newer plans — can access Organizations. Seat limits may vary by plan. If unsure, contact support.

Can I invite people outside Surfer?
Yes. They’ll just need to register for a free Surfer account — no plan required.

Can I join more than one organization?
Yes, as long as the organization has available seats and you get an invite link, you can join multiple organizations.

Can I own multiple organizations?
No. Each Surfer plan can have only one organization owner. There can be multiple admins & members.

Can I have my own plan and still join another organization?
Yes! You can freely switch between your own subscription and any organization you’re part of.
