Fanout Queries help you understand how AI models think when searching for answers to prompts. Instead of showing you only the final AI-generated answer, they reveal the search queries AI models use to gather information.
This gives you a powerful, behind-the-scenes view into:
What concepts AI associate with your brand
Which phrases, keywords, and angles are most frequently explored
How often are certain ideas reinforced across different prompts and models
When an AI model responds to a prompt, such as “What are the best review management tools?”, it often breaks the prompt into multiple supporting search queries. These are called Fanout Queries.
Each fanout query represents a different angle the model explores when constructing a complete answer, such as tools, platforms, comparisons, features, or use cases.
You can access Fanout Queries inside the AI Tracker tool:
Open AI Tracker.
Select your project.

Select Fanout Queries from the left navigation bar.

The dashboard starts with a list of common phrases, a quick look at what’s important.
The common phrases section lists all phrases that AI models repeatedly use to search for answers about your brand.
Each phrase includes a score indicating how often it was used by the AI across different prompts.
By default, we’ll display phrases common throughout all LLMs available in your subscription, but you can dive into specific ones if you wish.
Select the Models dropdown in the top-right corner and select the model you’d like to look into.
You can also share your results via a shareable link. Select the Share button to get the link. There, you can also reset the shareable link.
Beneath common phrases, you’ll find a table that helps you understand how AI prompts and their related fanout queries are performing. It’s designed to make it easy to see how specific prompts expand into related queries, and which AI models are involved.

- At the top of the page, the Group by control lets you change how the data is organized. You can group results by Fanout to focus on query variations, or by Prompt to focus on the main prompt itself.
- In the top-right corner, the Search field allows you to quickly find specific prompts by typing in a keyword.
- The main table is divided into several columns:
Prompt shows the full text of each prompt.
Fanout Queries shows how many related query variations are connected to that prompt.
Models displays icons representing the AI models where the prompt has appeared.
Times shown shows how often the prompt or its related queries have been displayed. This column can be sorted to quickly spot the most or least visible prompts.
- Each row in the table represents one prompt. You can click the arrow next to a prompt to expand it and see the individual fanout queries underneath.
The Open Details button lets you take a closer look at what’s happening behind a specific prompt.
Select the Open Details icon next to a prompt to expand a dedicated details panel. You’ll immediately get access to two sections: Overview and Responses.

The Overview panel is a handy miniature of the main Overview section of the AI Tracker. Navigate here to learn more about it.
In the Responses section, you can see the exact answers generated by AI for a chosen prompt, including the most recent response by default.

Controls at the top let you switch between AI models and select dates, making it easy to compare how outputs change over time or across models.
This detailed view helps you understand not just how often a prompt appears, but what users are actually seeing, giving you clear insight into content quality, messaging consistency, and overall AI visibility for that prompt.
