Use-case no. 1 – Create guidelines for your content
Every time you create a new content piece in Content Editor, create the guidelines based on the best competitors.
- In your Surfer's account, navigate to Content Editor.
- Type any query and choose the location you're interested in.
- After the query is completed (it may take up to several minutes), click the query on the list below.
- Go to customization mode by clicking the gear icon on your right. If you're entering your query for the first time, Surfer will automatically turn on the panel.
- In the "Pages to include" section, you can find Content Score evaluated for all competitors.
- Make sure that only the best of them are checked as a benchmark for your content. It will vary from query to query, but you may assume that Content Score above 60 is a good benchmark
- After selecting your competitors, click the 'save' button. Surfer will recalculate word count and other data for your content.
- Close the customization mode, and start typing your amazing content.
Use-case no. 2 – Specify content quality requirements for a given keyword
Before investing time and money in pursuing a popular, high-volume keyword, check the average Content Score and Domain Score in SERP Analyzer or Content Editor.
It helps to assess if your domain has enough trust to take over one of the top10 positions, and what level of content quality is required.
Use-case no. 3 – Find the best keyword opportunities
By checking the Content Score in SERP Analyzer, you can find keywords that for some reason have pages with poorly optimized content ranking for them.
If you see that there are SERPs (Search Engine Result Page) with mostly under-optimized content, they might be a good opportunity for your SEO efforts.
Tip: The best scenario in SERP for a high-volume, an attractive keyword is the following combination: domains with low authority plus low/average Content Score.
