How to Check Competitors’ Content Scores
Updated over a week ago

You can check the Content Score in both SERP Analyzer and Content Editor for every keyword and location.

Content Score in Content Editor

If you're creating SEO content from scratch, Content Editor should be your go-to place. Here you will find out what the Content Score is for the top20 pages ranking for your target query.

  1. In your Surfer's account, navigate to Content Editor.

  2. Type any query and choose the location you're interested in. Push "enter," and it will show at the top of the history log.

  3. After the query is completed (it may take up to several minutes), click the query on the list.

  4. Go to customization mode by clicking the gear icon on your right. Surfer will automatically open the panel if you enter the query for the first time.

  5. In the 'Competitors' section, you can find Content Score evaluated for all competitors.

Tip: Use Content Score to choose competitors to include in your analysis. Your Content Editor guidelines should be based on competitors with the best content in search results, therefore include only those scoring 60 or above (depending on a query).

Content Score in SERP Analyzer

If you're optimizing an existing page, use SERP Analyzer. In this case, you will get Content Score for top50 ranking pages.

  1. In your Surfer's account, navigate to SERP Analyzer.

  2. Type any query and choose the location you're interested in.

  3. After the query is completed (it may take up to several minutes), click the query on the list.

  4. Scroll down to the SERP view.

Tip: Just like in the case of Content Editor, use Content Score to choose the best competitors for your analysis. That will improve your optimization process with Surfer's Audit and relevancy of data presented on charts.
