Quick summary of features released in May and upcoming products

Updated over 6 months ago

Phew, this will be a longer one, so get your coffee ready.

Our goal for 2024 is to make Surfer even more useful and valuable to writers, marketers, and SEO experts around the world and I think we're on the right track (if I do say so myself) ๐Ÿค

May is packed with releases - and let me tell you, June will be even better ๐Ÿ‘€ To make things easier to digest we're bringing back Academy with our co-founder Michaล‚ Suski ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ“† May 28th, 6 PM CEST

๐Ÿ“† June 10th, 7 PM CEST

Missed the date or can't join live? No worries, we will share recordings on the Academy page ๐Ÿ’ช

Ok, let's jump to the exciting news I have for you โค๏ธ

What's new? ๐Ÿ‘‡

AI Detector and AI Content Humanizer

Starting strong, we have the AI Detector and AI Content Humanizer (AI Humanizer in short) - a free tool that will help you detect and humanize any AI content.
โ€‹

The free version has a limit of 500 words, people with a Surfer account but without an active subscription will have a limit of 5,000 words, and Surfer users can enjoy up to 50,000 words per month!

Spread the word and share it with fellow writers and AI enthusiasts - with every humanized article we're improving the digital space for everyone โค๏ธ

PS. We're working on embedding it natively within the Surfer app as soon as possible for all Surfer users - expect more updates in June! Oh, and the app version will work even better (obviously). ๐Ÿ˜‰

Topic Explorer - a better way to plan your SEO strategy

We've been working for a while on making content planning easier and more intuitive for you and the results are finally here ๐Ÿ‘‰ enter: Topic Explorer.

If you were in the early-release group, you've probably already noticed that the Keyword Research tool in the app's navigation changed its name to Topic Explorer.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ If you don't see it on your account yet, don't worry - Topic Explorer will be released to all Surfers after June 3rd! ๐ŸŽ‰ Can't wait any longer? You can request early access through [email protected] ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'll walk you through the most important changes ๐Ÿ‘‡

1๏ธโƒฃ New UI

The Topic Explorer tab is now essentially a hub for all of your content planning resources: Domain Maps, Topical Maps, Keyword Researches, and soon CSV Clusters.

From here you can browse through your existing projects, as well as create new ones.

2๏ธโƒฃ New features

Don't worry, Topic Explorer is more than just a design refresh, so let's go through the goodies one by one:

Domain Map - your entire content strategy at a glance

You can now connect your Google Search Console and receive an instant overview of your domain's topical authority: which clusters are already covered and ranking, which still need work, and where you have content gaps to take care of next.
โ€‹
You can view it in a table or graph format.

You can also use the filters to compare what your competitors are already covering or to see an estimated keyword difficulty of each cluster.

You can connect multiple domains and create a Domain Map for each. All maps will auto-update every 30 days to reflect your current work and changes in SERP.
โ€‹

Topical Map - new topics to fill your content calendar for weeks

If youโ€™re trying to populate a new website, make a shift into a new sector of the market, or simply want to grow your current websiteโ€™s topical authority, you need relevant content that shows your expertise and drives traffic. Enter: Topical Map. No more guessing, just neat, relevant, and easy-to-execute article ideas in minutes.

Here is what changed:

  • we added the graph view for visual learners

  • we improved the relevancy of suggested topics

  • we added a new column to the CSV export - URL. If you are working with a connected GSC you will see which URLs rank for keywords from your clusters directly in your export.

CSV clusters - custom clustering (coming soon)

Soon, you will be able to take the data gathered from any external tool and let Surfer make sense of it in minutes! CSV Clusters will find connections between the keywords and group them for you so that you can translate that information into an actionable part of your content strategy.
โ€‹

Keyword Research

This feature is not new and doesn't need an introduction - we know a lot of you still love to use Keyword Research over our newer solutions, so we're keeping it as an option within the Topic Explorer (no changes in how it works).
โ€‹

โ˜๏ธ You can expand each point above to read more about it!

Surfer AI in Italian

And finally, we added a new language to Surfer AI - Italian! ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น
โ€‹
To recap, you can use Surfer AI to generate ready-to-rank articles in 11 languages: English, German, Dutch, Polish, French, Spanish, Danish, Swedish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, and now also Italian.

More languages are bound to come but there is no set timeline yet.

Better Outline Builder in Content Editor

The Outline Builder (and Insert Outlines) you know from Content Editor just got a significant rework and now looks very similar to AI outlines (with bullet points!).

Whatโ€™s coming next? ๐Ÿ‘‡

Clarity on the next best step with Content Audit

Soon, you will be able to connect your Google Search Console and get a real-time audit of your domainโ€™s health. From monitoring your content's performance to suggestions on best SEO opportunities and notifications with action plans when your position in SERPs drops, Content Audit will save you lots of time and help focus on what matters most: ranking.

First iteration of Content Audit will be available to all Surfers on June 10th and included in all subscriptions at no additional cost.

There will be also a live demo on June 10th, 7PM CEST time with our co-founder Michaล‚ Suski. RSVP here.

Best opportunities in Domain Map

We are working on expanding the Domain Map with Best opportunities that will highlight the most impactful topics and clusters to help you with workload prioritization.

AI meta titles

Soon we will auto-generate SEO-optimized AI meta titles for all your articles to make the publishing step a bit easier on you.

Internal Links improvements

We'll add a way to edit anchor text and URLs for all links we include in your articles.

Comments and mentions

The final piece of collaboration features - comments, mentions, and notifications about responses - is already available to a subset of Surfers and is planned for a full release in June. This, combined with previously released features such as versioning history and real-time article co-creation, should make your content creation a whole lot easier. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Elementor integration (WordPress plugin)

Elementor will mature out of Beta in a matter of a few weeks and will be switched to a stable version. So, if you're using the Elementor editor on WordPress, make sure you have our Surfer plugin installed and send over a word on how you like the integration!

Too much of a good thing is a real deal, so I'll stop here ๐Ÿ˜…
