Updated over 4 months ago

February's been a whirlwind of innovation and excitement at Surfer, and we're buzzing to share it all with you. 🐝 Let's dive in!

What's new? πŸ‘‡

Powerful Writing Points in Surfer AI

You've asked for more control over the AI article's outline and it's finally here!

We're super excited about this upgrade. Here's the scoop:

Before, our AI just gave you the big headlines. Now, it digs deeper, crafting detailed outlines with bullet points for each section and even performing additional research if the top SERP competitors missed out on important details. Plus, slipping in Custom Knowledge is a breeze.

Think of it as seeing your article's blueprint before hitting "generate." Tweak, add, or ditch parts to steer our AI exactly where you want it to go, smooth sailing all the way.

And there's more! Pop in Custom Knowledge as easily as adding a bullet point, giving your site's E-EAT score a lift with your unique expertise, insights, related URLs, or even pointers about CTAs you want to include in your final article.

Swedish in Surfer AI

Surfer AI now generates articles in 8 languages: English πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ, German πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ, Polish πŸ‡΅πŸ‡±, Dutch πŸ‡³πŸ‡±, French πŸ‡«πŸ‡·, Spanish πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ, Danish πŸ‡©πŸ‡°, and Swedish πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ!

Surfer guidelines in WordPress

This is exciting news a lot of you have been waiting for: our free WordPress plugin is about to get significantly better with real-time SEO guidelines in your WP editor! A finished update will be available for all WP users on March 4th.

Now, shifting drafts between Surfer and WordPress (and vice versa) is just the start. Get ready for instant Content Editor tips for every article linked to your WP, all with a few easy clicks:

πŸ’‘ Just like with the GoogleDocs extension, few features still require working directly in Surfer to make the most of it. These are: brief, outlines, Plagiarism Checker, Surfer AI, Surfy, and newly released version history.

If you are using Surfer's Chrome Extension to work in WordPress, consider switching to the WordPress plugin. It's more dependable (say goodbye to annoying iFrame issues) and plays nice with top editors like Gutenberg, Classic Editor, and soon, Elementor. Plus, it's going to make managing images a breeze by auto-adding them to your Media Library, streamlining your content process like never before!

Version history in all articles

The collaboration tools you've been asking for are rolling out to all Surfers! We've kicked things off with version history for both Content Editors and Surfer AI articles. Now, flipping through auto-saved drafts of your article takes just a few clicks:

Peek at the bottom of your article, and you'll spot a live count of collaborators working alongside you. If you can't see it yet, don't worry - we're rolling out changes in batches and you'll soon have access too!

And get ready - coming in March, we're adding long-awaited comments! After that, we'll continue working on enabling tagging capabilities for smoother collaboration.

Topical Map available to all users

The wait time is over: Topical Map is now available to all Surfers within the Keyword Research (KR) tool!

Connect your Google Search Console to get even better insights. Before you launch a new KR search, just flip on the Topical Map feature. You'll get a clear view of the topics and keywords your site is already hitting and where there's room to beat out the competition.

Found the perfect cluster to target? Hit "Write" and you're on your way to crafting content that'll leave your competitors in the dust!

Improved Keyword Difficulty Score and More Control Over the Thematic Map

Our Topical Map is like a treasure chest of content ideas, tailor-made for brainstorming and spotting those spots where you can outshine your competition. But hey, we get itβ€”not every idea is a perfect match for what you're all about. So, now you've got the power to pick which keywords (up to 10) you want to guide your content creation. And if some Categories and Article Ideas don't make the cut? Simply tuck them away in the archive. No stress, you can bring them back whenever you like, easy-peasy!

Also, we realized our old 10-point scale in Topical Map was a bit like trying to understand a movie plot without all the scenesβ€”it just didn’t give the full picture. So, we've jazzed up our keyword difficulty score to a much cooler, easier-to-get 100-point scale. This shiny new update is rolling out to all Surfers in just a few days. Stay tuned!

That's why we're thrilled to let you know about our upcoming feature: a customizable tone of voice option! Keep an eye out for the Beta release coming your way in April.

Enhanced AI-Driven Image Creation

We're on a mission to upgrade your ability to craft and customize commercially-safe AI-generated images, right within your AI articles. Our aim? To let you effortlessly produce tailor-made AI images whenever you need, refine the initial creations, and boost the number of AI images per article to hit the sweet spot recommended by our content guidelines.

Adjusting the latest AI models to suit the diverse demands of the Surfer community is a journey, but we're excited to roll out the initial enhancements shortly.

Insert Terms 2.0

During our exploration of the latest AI models, we realized it was time to give our beloved Insert Terms feature a facelift. Get ready for Insert Terms 2.0, set to revolutionize article optimization with just one click!

But we're not just talking about finding the perfect spot for your keywords. Insert Terms 2.0 goes further, using NLP and AI to smartly rewrite or even flesh out your content, ensuring it reads smoothly and naturally. Plus, it's not just about keywords anymore. This upgrade evaluates all the factors that affect your content's ranking, giving your Content Score a significant lift with a mere click.

New Website Auditing Capabilities

Picture this: You log into Surfer, run a fast check on your website's content, and bamβ€”you're handed a list of top-notch tweaks to boost your rankings effortlessly. Pretty cool, right?

Guess what? Our dedicated team is already fine-tuning a closed Beta version, transforming how you review and enhance your content's optimization to keep you leading in the search results. And trust us, this is only the beginning! πŸ˜‰

Enhancing Content Strategy Tools

We're on a mission to empower you to become the go-to source for topics in your field. To get you there, we're upgrading our Keyword Research tool, helping you pinpoint the perfect topic clusters to target next. πŸ—ΊοΈ

We're also cooking up new features and user interface enhancements for both Keyword Research and Topical Maps. So, don't forget to check back in March's newsletter edition for more exciting details!
