What is Contentful?
Contentful is an intelligent Content Management System (CMS) that simplifies the creation, management, publication, and expansion of unique content experiences across various digital platforms, all within a single, comprehensive content system.

How does the integration work, and what is required?
Our integration, will allow you to work directly within your CMS while giving you real-time SEO guidelines, such as keyword density, length and content structure using our Content Editor guidelines.
💡 To use the integration, there are two main requirements:
a Contentful account
an active subscription on Surfer
It's important to note that your Surfer and Contentful logins don't have to match – browser cookies will do their magic!
Setting up the integration
Once you have set up your accounts and ensured your Surfer subscription is active, you can integrate Surfer into Contentful directly from the marketplace. Alternatively, you can do so on the 'Apps' tab in your Contentful account by following the below steps:
Click on the 'Apps' section then select 'Marketplace'.
Search for 'Surfer' and click on it.
Click the Install button
You're all set! 😊 Surfer should appear on your list of Installed apps.
Configuring the Integration
Once installed, you will need to select the content types you want Surfer App to work with.
⚠️ Each content type you select must contain at least one Rich Text field.
To allow Surfer to work with your content type:
Select your existing Content Model (or add a new one)
Click on the 'Sidebar' section
Hit the ➕ sign next to Surfer
Click the Save button to save changes
To get started, you can choose one of your existing content types or add a new entry. Surfer will appear on the right sidebar when accessing the selected content type editor in Contentful. You can also create a new Content Editor directly from Contentful, which will cost you one of your credits.
⚠️ The integration allows you to link existing Surfer guidelines or create new ones directly in Contentful, but there’s no sync for content. You will need to copy-paste the content manually from one Editor to another.
Sharing a draft link
While your Editor is linked to Contentful, you will not be able to create another sharable link. However, you can always disconnect a Content Editor from Contentful and then create a new shareable link in Surfer.
You can disconnect the Content Editor from Contentful in two ways:
In Contentful – click on the below pin icon to disconnect the editor.
In Surfer – open the content editor from the list in Surfer » click the "Share" button on the right » click "Disconnect from Content Editor"
