Keyword Research (formerly known as Content Planner) simplifies your approach to developing a quality content strategy and creating SEO-friendly content. There are two search options available for the content planner: by keyword or by domain. Starting with keywords, identify a seed keyword that best represents the overall topic you wish to create content around.
For best results, be broad, but ensure that it matches your targeted search intent! As with Content Editor, be sure to choose the region within which your search is being made.
When your Keyword Research has finished loading, click on it to be taken to the summary page where you’ll topic clusters related to your inputted keyword(s). Clusters are formed around a primary keyword/phrase, with accompanying related keywords. You’ll see data points on search intent, monthly search volume (MSV), and keyword difficulty (KD). Consider connecting your Google Search Console to be shown clusters you’re not currently ranking for that you should be!
When you’ve found a cluster that you wish to create content for, click the purple pencil icon in the bottom right of the cluster’s box to review data points and check included keywords. If everything looks good, open Content Editor with a single click, and get down to business!
