You can choose whether you want Google Docs Extension to load automatically or on-demand.

To close current guidelines, click on the icon of extension to load a drop-down menu and make sure that the 'Auto load Surfer' box is not checked.

Now, the extension won't load automatically - just refresh the page to close it.
