There is a variety of reasons why our Google Docs extension can have issues deploying fully.
It can be caused by an individual document being corrupted, a global problem, or other minor causes, so let’s explain those issues and what you can do to get the extension working properly.
No drop-down menu
If you click on the icon and no drop-down menu appears, with a button 'LOAD SURFER' available, the first step is to make sure you've installed the right extension. Keyword Surfer and Google Docs Extension have a similar icon, so it's easy to confuse them if you're not accustomed to our tools.
Extension is blank
You can load the sidebar but it's completely blank? This issue is most likely caused by the third-party cookies not being allowed in the browser.
Please check if those are enabled and if not, follow the instructions here: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647 (under Allow or block cookies).
If you have just downloaded the extension and experience problems, closing chrome and opening it again might solve any issues you're facing. (It’s crazy how often turning it off and then on again works!).
If that hasn’t helped, the next step is to contact us. Reach out to us via chat or at [email protected]. Let us know what keyword and location you used as well as the URL of that Google Docs file, and our team will help you get it sorted and working again, as quickly as possible.
