# Problems You Might Encounter When Importing From URL

Learn what to do when imports fail or return unexpected results.

Importing content from a URL lets you quickly pull text into the Content Editor, but because it relies on external webpages, it may fail or return unexpected results. For example, the import may not complete successfully or may include extra or missing content. Read on to learn what to do in such cases.

## 1\. “We were unable to retrieve content from the page" - query fails

Most likely reasons:

- your server served us no content to copy (for instance, when your page did not respond in time or copy-protection is enabled)

- your server sent us a generic HTTP response error (like 403, 404, or 500), preventing our crawlers from accessing the content (due to a typo in URL, bot block, or temporary domain issues on your end)

> **Info:** In such cases, the query will be automatically canceled, and the **subscription limit will not be affected**.

## 2\. Completed queries with unexpected results

Most likely reasons:

- Our crawler is being redirected based on your server settings to another page instead of the desired URL.

- A custom error page or intermediary page is loaded instead of the desired content (such as Cloudflare's timeout or bot challenge page).

> **Info:** For such cases, queries are completed and **usage is deducted from your limit** as we did receive a response from your server.

## Final Reminders

- Importing content from a URL is only available when creating a query. It won't synchronize or update your draft on the specified URL, nor will it apply any changes you make from your CMS admin page.

- We advise you to manually copy and paste the content if any problems arise. You should review your server/webpage settings to avoid future crawling issues.
