This is where the real magic starts. Connecting GSC to Surfer lets us pull in your actual site data—so we’re not just guessing what to fix, write, or link. We know.
Google Search Console is the main source of information about your website performance. Surfer is using this data to give you better insights, recommend which existing content should be re-optimized, suggest new content ideas and help you track your results from a single place.
PS. While connecting GSC unlocks advanced features like Content Audit and Dashboard for deeper insights, Surfer's Content Editor and many other tools can still be used effectively even without GSC data.
Once you connect GSC, Surfer will:
Show your full SEO performance dashboard with Surfer insights and metrics pulled from GSC
Audit and suggest updates for existing content to quickly improve rankings and keep your content ranking over time
Build a Topical Map based on what’s already ranking vs. where your content gaps are
Suggest internal links inside the Content Editor—with a single click, for any article
One connection. Four killer features.
Just your Surfer account and access to the Google account that owns your GSC.
You can connect multiple GSC properties and GSC accounts to Surfer — this is especially useful if you manage several websites, work with multiple clients, or have different projects organized under separate accounts.
ASAP. This is a one-time setup. After that, Surfer syncs new data automatically—no maintenance needed.
Google Account: Make sure you have a Google Account used for managing SEO tasks or website administration.
Website Management Access: You must have privileges to modify your site’s hosting or CMS (for adding an HTML file, meta tag, or DNS record).
Website Ownership or Authorization: You must be authorized to verify and manage the site in GSC.
In Surfer, open Settings in the left-bottom corner.
Click Google Search Console.
Click Add Google Account.
Next, you will be prompted to connect your Google Account to Surfer:
First, you need to pick which account you want to connect. Make sure to select the one with your domain added as a verified property.
Next, approve permissions (mark all checkboxes), and boom—you’re done.
Step 3 is also the place where you can manage your GSC accounts after connecting them, e.g., to remove integration or to add more accounts. There’s no limit to how many Google Accounts you can connect to your Surfer account.
Note: If your website targets multiple languages or countries under the same domain (for example, using subfolders like /en/ for English and /fr/ for French), it's recommended to set up separate GSC properties for each language or country section.
This allows you to monitor search performance, indexing issues, and user behavior for each audience more accurately. Alternatively, you can use GSC filters, but separate properties provide the most precise control and insights.
You’re in. Now it's time to set up your first Site, audit your domain and spot your quickest SEO wins. →
